One very expensive camera
Is it worth it?
Good morning, happy Tuesday 🙋♂️
Today’s newsletter is going to be short and sweet. 🍬
Unfortunately, I was sick 🤒 over the weekend. On top of not being fun, I missed a nice weekend to go take photos. Hopefully you fared better than I did.
Here’s what we have for today:
💰 $23,000 for a film camera?

💰 $23,000 for a film camera?
Ah Leica. Popular amongst trendy street photographers, the Leica M is a very nice but expensive camera. Used ones are several thousand dollars and new ones are double that. 😱
Now, to celebrate the 70th year anniversary of the M-series, Leica is releasing a special edition. Called Edition 70, this camera features platinum plating, and only 250 are being made. The cost to add this camera to your collection? A whopping $23,000. 💸
📺 It’s like Disneyland for film photographers
Kyle McDougall, a wonderful film photographer with an excellent YouTube channel recently posted his little excursion to the Kamerastore in Finland. 🇫🇮
They buy and sell used camera gear, including many film cameras. In this video Kyle took a tour of their warehouse, where they do all of their sorting, fixing and listing of cameras. Nothing but rows and rows of bins filled with film cameras. 😍
I particularly enjoyed seeing the process of testing how well the camera functions (shutter speeds, aperture diameter, infinity focus etc). Now I want to know if my camera’s shutter is actually 1/500th of a second 🧐
Grab some popcorn.🍿 It’s a video worth watching.
Like I said, short and sweet. That’s going to do it for today. I’ll see you on Thursday!
Go turn a negative into a positive…maybe with a $23,000 Leica. 😁
